Ruthin returned to winning ways on Friday with a 31-0 win over Caernarfon. The first half saw the Blues put on one of their best first half displays this season and then had to defend well against a thrusting Caernarfon attack. Ruthin were 5 points up after 3 minutes with a try from 2nd row Deian Lloyd Williams followed 12 minutes later by fullback Jamies Jones bursting through the Caernarfon defence to put them 10-0 ahead. With the Blues moving the ball well around the field and countering any Caernarfon attack it was only a matter of time before they went further ahead. Wing Arfon Thomas obliged with a try behind the posts and fly half Nathan Jones converted. A minute or two later flanker Arwyn Davies touched down for the bonus point try after a great run and Nathan converted. The first half closed with Ruthin 24-0 up. At the start of the 2nd half Ruthin had to muster all of their defensive strength to prevent Caernarfon reducing the arrears but after 5 minutes they cleared their lines and replacement back Kyle Davies grabbed Ruthin’s fifth try with Nathan converting. The visitor continued to try to reduce the arrears but couldn’t get past the Blues solid defence and whilst the Blues were still looking dangerous on the attack there was no further score and the whistle blew with Ruthin getting maximum league points.
