Ruthin got off to a good start against Llangefni when after 5 minutes play No 8 Jordan Jones went over the line for a try. The Blues kept up the pressure with the pack performing well against Cefni’s big forwards and after 20 minutes the pressure told with try number 2 coming from wing Bryn Sheppard. The visitors responded and for the last 15 minutes of the first half much of the play was in Ruthin’s half as Cefni tried to reduce the arrears. The Blues defence held and play returned to the visitors’ territory and on half time fly half Phyl Roberts went over the whitewash with full back Dyfan Humphreys converting and Ruthin were ahead 17-0. The home side continued their attack after the break and 10 minutes in wing Josh Wilson broke through Cefni’s defence and offloaded to second row Sion Roberts who got the bonus point try with Humphreys converting. Again the visitors responded and eventually got the better of the Blues defence and Greg Horseman went over for a try. The gap widened again though within 5 minutes when Wilson broke through again and offloaded to centre Emyr Gwynedd for the Blues 5th try. Again Cefni came back and were rewarded with a converted try from Sior Greaves but it was the Blues that had the last score on the 80th minute with Josh Wilson crossing the line and Humphreys converting. The final score was 36-12 to Ruthin finishing off a good day with both youth and 2nd teams winning their matches against Newtown and Bethesda.
